Research Fields

1)Production of protein

Expressing exogenous proteins in E. coli cells is the routine work in our lab. The details include gene design, plasmid construction and protein expression&purification. Sometimes, we used phage-display to screen scFv antibodies for research purposes.

2)Serial application of membrane penetrating peptides

Antimicrobial peptides could spontaneously intercalate into biomembrane including both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. AMPs could be used as antimicrobial agents, and could also be used to decorate cellular membrane for bacterial discrimination and targeting delivery. Besides, AMPs could be used to opsonize pathogens in fusion with a common vaccine against infectious diseases. These applications have been subject to patent application.

3)Nucleic acid detection

We are trying to design a new approach for quick detection of single chain nucleic acid based on strand displacement/exchange. This method could be used for DNA/RNA detection and detection of cellular in situ viral infection.

4)Screening of antimicrobial compounds
