Dr Chen's research interest is repair and regeneration of collagen rich tissues, including:

1. cornea epithelium repair by using bioactive factors

2. phenotype maintenance of in vitro cultured corneal keratocytes

3. tissue regeneration of sports system (tendon, cartilage, and meniscus) by tissue engineering

4. directed differentiation of stem cells into specific lineage (cornea, tendon)

5. effect of biomechanics on cell phenotype
